Tom Hughes and Ophelia Lovibond give us the gossip from the set of Eight Minutes Idle.

It’s always nice to get a phone call at Screen HQ (everyone emails us these days), but even more so when it happens to be from the gorgeous Tom Hughes and Ophelia Lovibond, ringing to chat from the set of their romantic comedy Eight Minutes Idle which is shooting in Bristol.

Based on the award winning novel by Matt Thorne and directed by first time feature film-maker Mark Simon Hewis, Tom and Ophelia play Dan and Teri – for whom love blossoms in the Bristol call centre where they work.

The two young actors have an impressive body of work behind them both – Tom has already starred in Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll and Cemetery Junction, whilst Ophelia’s credits include Nowhere Boy and No Strings Attached.

And the word from the set is that the on-screen chemistry between the pair is electric.

So what’s their secret?

“We have been going for jogs together in the morning, doing yoga,” says Tom. “And doing mirroring exercises,” adds Ophelia.

They are clearly joking. So I put my theory to them - could it be because they are both Screen Stars of Tomorrow?

“Well I did say [to Ophelia] when I turned up, listen, I’m not going to work with you unless you’re a Screen Star of Tomorrow,” says Tom.

If only all actors were so discerning!
