Don’t expect sexy times.

It’s not quite the bom-chika-bow-bow sexy image that some might have hoped for, but this is the first still from Lars von Trier’s Nymphomaniac.

Nymphomaniac

The shoot is now complete for the film, which is about a woman’s erotic journey from birth to age 50. Graphic sex scenes are expected, although certainly not seen in this photo.

And TrustNordisk, which is selling the film, has also dropped this phrase, presumably from the film: “My only sin, I believe, is that I always demanded more of the sunset.”

TrustNordisk continues presales of Nymphomaniac at this year’s European Film Market in Berlin. Territories already sold are Australia/NZ (Transmission), France (Les Films du Losange), UK/Ireland (Artificial Eye), Benelux (Wildbunch), Greece/Cyprus (Seven Films), Germany/Austria (Concorde), CIS (Central Partnership), Czech Republic/Slovakia (AeroFilms), Ex-Yugoslavia (Cinemania Groupicon), Poland (Gutek Film), Estonia (Estin Film), Lithuania/Latvia (Acme Film), Romania (Independenta Films´97), Bulgaria (Art Fest Ltd.) and Brazil (California Films), Hong Kong (Parkway Management).

The ensemble cast includes Charlotte Gainsbourg and Stellan Skarsgård along with Stacy Martin, Shia LaBeouf, Jamie Bell, Christian Slater, Uma Thurman, Willem Dafoe, Connie Nielsen, Mia Goth, Udo Kier, Jean-Marc Barr, Caroline Goodall, Kate Ashfield, Saskia Reeves, Sophie Kennedy Clark, Hugo Speer, Felicity Gilbert, Michaël Pas, Jesper Christensen, Jens Albinus, Nicolas Bro, Cyron Melville, Shanti Roney, Omar Shargawi, Tania Carlin, Severin von Hoensbroech, Peter Gilbert Cotton and others.

Zentropa producer Louise Vesth is interviewed in this month’s Screen International and talks more about the film.
