Teaser trailer launches for superhero sequel, starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx and Dane DeHaan.

Sony Pictures has released the teaser trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

The trailer has been launched worldwide and is available in multiple languages, as well as on numerous Sony networks, internet sites, and other Sony properties, including Sony’s Times Square billboard.

Commenting on its launch, Dwight Caines, president of theatrical marketing for Sony Pictures, commented: “We are always looking to reach moviegoers wherever they are, and when we have the opportunity to leverage Sony’s worldwide reach in this way, it’s an opportunity that we just have to grab.”

“When you have a character like Spider-Man, it demands a broad, fun way to reach moviegoers internationally as well as domestically,” added Nigel Clark, president of marketing for Sony Pictures Releasing International.

The electric trailer features all the swinging action and money shots you could want, and first glimpses of both Dane DeHaan’s take on Harry Osborn and Jamie Foxx’s Electro, as well as Chris Cooper’s Norman Osborn. There’s a splash of expected darkness about it all, following standard superhero convention of ‘going dark’ for a sequel, and the opening has echoes of the Iron Man 3 trailer from earlier this year.

Directed by Marc Webb, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 sees Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) having to juggle spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone) with going up against new villain Electro (Foxx), a foe far more powerful than he. When old friend Harry Osborn (DeHaan) returns, Parker realises that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 begins its international rollout on April 16, 2014, before releasing domestically on May 2, 2014. The Amazing Spider-Man made over $750m worldwide, with $490m coming from its international performance.
