Michel Hazanavicius’ multi-award winner rises 68% and has now charmed its way to $63.7m, breaking the $100m worldwide mark in the process.

Following its Oscar wins last week, The Artist has recorded significant boosts across its international markets, on top of a 25% burst in the US where it now stands at $36.8m.

Notable highlights included a 357% lift in Italy in its 13th week in play for a $2.8m tally, a climb of seven places to second (with a 104% increase) in France where it has recorded 2.6m admissions and a 33% rise in the UK in its tenth week for $13.4m.

It was a similar picture outside of Europe as well with it notching a 61% boost in Australia for $2.9m, a 49% rise in South Korea for an early $0.6m and a 78% increase in its fourth week in Brazil for $1.5m.

Overall, it achieved an $8.0m weekend — a rise of 68% — for a superb haul of $63.7m so far which, combined with its US total, means it has broken the $100m mark worldwide, and now stands at $100.5m.

Wild Bunch handled international sales and The Artist is still active in more than 40 territories and around 2,700 sites.
