The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has reached $160m and must be odds-on to cross $225m by the end of the weekend given the nature of its expansion.

The superhero juggernaut arrives in North America this weekend where industry insiders have been predicting a debut in the region of $90m.

However Sony Pictures Releasing International executives are looking to share the spoils, too. The film opens in a further 50 territories and is expected to deliver big results in China, France and Brazil.

Combined with what are likely to be muscular holds in the likes of South Korea and Russia, Spidey 2 could vault past $225m if it delivers a further $60m-plus weekend that would contribute to a potential worldwide session in excess of $150m.

Fox International’s Rio 2 has reached $258.6m and opens in South Korea. The Other Woman on $24.9m arrives in around 20 territories, among them Russia and Mexico.

Wes Anderson’s extraordinary journey is set to continue with a slew of releases for The Grand Budapest Hotel in the Middle East. The comedy has grossed $84.3m and has a shot at reaching $100m.

Marvel Studios’ Captain America: The Winter Soldier has grossed $428.2m with no further markets to launch through Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International.

Frozen stands at $753.5m and has also released in all its markets.

Paramount Pictures International’s Noah stood at $222.7m by April 27, while Warner Bros Pictures International’s The Lego Movie stands at $201m and 300: Rise Of An Empire $224m.

Lionsgate International executives reported that Transcendence has reached $34.1m and Divergent $94.7m with debuts set for Spain and Sweden.
