Twenty films to screen in the Official Selection sidebar will be announced at the festival’s press conference on April 19.

British actor and director Tim Roth has been appointed president of the Un Certain Regard jury, the Cannes Film Festival has announced.

“English actor and director Tim Roth will be the president of the Un Certain Regard Jury, part of the Festival de Cannes Official Selection, for which twenty films will be announced at the same time as those for the Competition during the press conference on April 19,” the festival said in a statement.

Roth made made his first appearances at Cannes in the cast of Reservoir Dogs and the Golden Palm-winning Pulp Fiction by Quentin Tarantino.

Founded in 1978 by Gilles Jacob, Un Certain Regard is aimed at “original and different” works.

In 2011, the Prix Un Certain Regard was awarded ex-aequo to Korean Kim Ki-Duk’s Arirang and German Andreas Dresen’s Stopped on Track (Halt Auf Freier Strecke).
