The Zurich Film Festival will present its Golden Eye Award to Oscar-winning director Roman Polanski.

The award, to be presented September 27, will honour his life’s work as a film director.

ZFF Directors Karl Spoerri and Nadja Schildknecht also announced that the festival will present a special Polanski retrospective, including Knife In The Water, Rosemary’s Baby, The Fearless Vampire Killers, Chinatown,Frantic, Death And The Maiden and The Pianist.

Polanski will also discuss his directing work in a workshop, part of ZFF’s Master Class series. The audience will be 25 selected young filmmakers.

Past retrospectives in Zurich have honored Costa-Gavras, Oliver Stone, and Stephen Frears. Additional plans for this year’s ZFF will be announced in coming weeks.

The fifth Zurich Film Festival runs September 24-October 4.
