Taipei-based Double Edge Entertainment has picked up a slew of rights on Kevin Chu’s $15m Treasure Hunter, starring Taiwanese idol Jay Chou, and sealed a Chinese deal on sci-fi action film The King Of Fighters.

Double Edge will represent territories including Europe, Japan and Korea on highly-anticipated action film Treasure Hunter, billed as Taiwan’s biggest ever production.

Described by Double Edge as a “sci-fi Western”, the film was produced by Taiwanese production outfit Chang Hong and also stars Lin Chi-ling (Red Cliff).

China Film is scheduled to release it across mainland China this December, simultaneously with Hong Kong’s Emperor Motion Pictures,Taiwan’s CMC and Scorpio East in South-East Asia.

Chu and Chou previously teamed on Kung Fu Dunk which was a huge hit in Chinese-speaking territories last year. Chou stars as Kato in Sony’s upcoming The Green Hornet.

In addition, Double Edge has sold The King Of Fighters to IDG for mainland China. Directed by Gordon Chan (Painted Skin), and starring Maggie Q, Ray Park, Sean Faris and Will Yun Lee, the film is based on a best-selling video game franchise. It was produced by Bobby Sheng, Tim Kwok and Joseph Chou.

Kwok and Double Edge’s Steve Chicorel are also handling Japan and Korea on the film, while Inferno Distribution is handling the rest of the world.
