Revolver Entertainment, the UK distributor, has snapped up Sin Nombre in the UK in its first deal with Focus Features.

The thriller, directed by newcomer Cary Joji Fukunaga, follows a Honduran woman seeking the promise of America.  Along the way she meets a Mexican gang member struggling to outrun his past towards a new life.  It screened at Sundance and SXSW.

Revolver plans to release the crime thriller across the UK and Ireland in August.

The distributor has also acquired Diagnosis:Death, directed by Jason Stutter, who also made hit US comedy TV series The Flight Of The Conchords. The comedy horror film will star the show’s Bret McKenzie, Rhys Darby, Jemaine Clementand Raybon Kan.  The deal was struck with Australian production and sales company Odin’s Eye Entertainment, headed up by Michael Favelle.

Other titles Revolver has picked up include Red Mist,  from Belfast based production outfit Generator Entertainment.  The film stars Arielle Kebbel, Sarah Carter, MyAnna Buring, Andrew Lee Potts and Martin Compston. Paddy Breathnach (Shrooms and I Went Down) directs. It has also taken the rights to Big Cats directed by Christian James (Freak Out), a dark comedy from Ailie Smith and Richard Kerrigan’s production company Nailgun Ltd.
