EXCLUSIVE: Toronto’s Breakthrough Entertainment has signed on to serve as executive producer and will handle international sales on Joe’s Mountain starring Kris Kristofferson. Helen Hunt is in talks to join the cast.

Chuck Rose will direct the story of a former ladies man who goes on a road trip with a beautiful young woman and her dying son in search of a healing lake.

Henry Boger, whose credits include Haven with Orlando Bloom and Even Money with Kim Basinger, Forest Whitaker and Ray Liotta, will produce and has targeted a Canada shoot later this year.

“Joe’s Mountain is a magnificent story with compelling and unique general audience appeal,” said Breakthrough vp of movies Marina Cordoni. “Kris Kristofferson is perfectly cast in the lead role and we are delighted to be in talks with Helen Hunt.”

“In writing Joe’s Mountain I wanted to tell a story of courage and redemption,” said Rose. “All the characters have been held back in one way or another by cages of their own making.”

Breakthrough will also distribute Joe’s Mountain in Canada.
