Cowboys and Aliens cast expected at UK premiere set to open Empire’s new Big Screen event at 02 Arena

Bauer Media, Clarion Events and Empire today unveiled programme details of their three day film event Empire Presents….Big Screen taking place at the 02 Arena in south London this August (12 – 14).

The three day fan-fest will open with the UK premiere of Universal’s anticipated CowboysAnd Aliens and close with the premiere of Dreamworks’ comedy-horror Fright Night, which will be attended by actor David Tennant.

The event will also feature screenings of The Help, The Change Up, The Guard, TrollHunter, Conan The Barbarian 3D, the Pixar catallogue anda number of cinema classics; presentations of highlights from Arthur Christmas and The Pirates! In An Adventure With Scientists and a host of sneak peaks including Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, Titanic 3D, In Time, Reel Steel, Brave, The Muppets, The Darkest Hour, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, The Woman in Black and Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.

The ambitious successor to the BFI-Empire event MovieCon will be closer in scope to Comic-Con, with presences from all the major US studios and UK indie distributors as well as a string of talent sessions including talks with director Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum, Date Night, Real Steel), stunt man Vic Armstrong, composer David Arnold, comic-book writer Mark Millar and The Muppets.

Visitors will have an opportunity to explore props and costumes from The London Film Museum, a special effects arena, a replica Star Wars set, and take part in a Star Wars: Padawan Training School.

Screenings will take place at the Cineworld cinemas in the 02 centre and on the Sky Superscreen, the largest 3D cinema screen in Europe. Further screenings, talent and events will be announced in due course.
