Harvey Weinstein is to deliver the keynote address at the Mipcom market in Cannes next month.

The co-chairman of The Weinstein Company (TWC), who previously founded Miramax Films with his brother Bob, will give his speech at the event in Cannes on 8 October.

It follows the launch of TWC’s international television sales division. Their most notable series to date includes reality series Project Runway and Mob Wives, and comedy drama The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency, made in partnership with the BBC for HBO.

The company is currently in pre-production on period epic Marco Polo for US cable network Starz.

Weinstein, who has notched up 75 Academy Awards and more than 300 Oscar nominations for his productions, will announce the company’s new slate of TV shows for 2013 in the keynote.

Mipcom runs from 8-11 October in Cannes.
