Richard Linklater, riding high on critical acclaim for Boyhood and Before Midnight, will collect the honour during the 57th San Francisco International Film Festival on May 1.
The filmmaker will take part in An Evening With Richard Linklater comprising an on-stage interview followed by a screening of Boyhood.
The festival is set to run from April 24-May 8.
Further winners included Kamal Aljafari’s ‘A Fidai Film’ in Burning Lights.
