The world premiere of Vendome Pictures and Mark Gordon’s sci-fi thriller Source Code starring Jake Gyllenhaal will open the 2011 South by Southwest film festival (SXSW).

Summit Entertainment will open in North America on April 1 and has mostly pre-sold around the world. Duncan Jones (Moon) directed from a screenplay by Ben Ripley.

Gyllenhaal plays a military officer plunged into a time-bending top secret mission to prevent a terrorist attack on Chicago. Michelle Monaghan, Vera Farmiga and Jeffrey Wright round out the key cast.

Gordon, Vendome’s Philippe Rousselet and Jordan Wynn produced and Hawk Koch, Jeb Brody and Fabrice Gianfermi served as executive producers.

SXSW runs from March 11–19, 2011 in Austin, Texas. Festival organisers will announce the complete line-up in early February 2011
