Among the narrative Spotlight entries are Stefan Ruzowitzky’s thriller Deadfall starring Eric Bana and Olivia Wilde and Fox Searchlight’s Lola Versus with Greta Gerwig, Bill Pullman and Debra Winger, while documentaries include male grooming in Morgan Spurlock’s Mansome and sports in Knuckleball! from Ricki Stern and Annie Sundberg.

The Cinemania programme includes satire Eddie – The Sleepwalking Cannibal, Philippines-US thriller Graceland and home invasion tale Replicas with Selma Blair, Joshua Close and James D’Arcy

Festival top brass also announced special screenings and the line-up for the Tribeca/ESPN Sports Film Festival. Short films will be announced in the week of Mar 12. The 11th Tribeca Film Festival will take place from Apr 18-29.

The Giant Mechanical Man, Side By Side and Sleepless Night will all go out under the Tribeca Film label.

“The Spotlight programme is a wonderful encapsulation of the originality and diversity of filmmaking that Tribeca seeks to highlight,” artistic director Frederic Boyer said. “We have films from emerging filmmakers as well as seasoned veterans, narratives that showcase stellar performances and insightful writing, and documentaries that challenge and inform their audiences

“With Cinemania, our selections demonstrate the imagination and resourcefulness of filmmakers from around the world who push the boundaries of genre in order to entertain, thrill, and engage.”

“It was important that we head into Tribeca’s second decade highlighting projects that were attuned to the pulse of our cultural climate,” director of programming Genna Terranova said. “That said, both consciousness and levity play a prominent role in this year’s selection. We are also eager to introduce audiences to a group of films that are reworking genres and testing traditional modes of storytelling.”
