Europa Cinemas has presented its annual awards to the best exhibitors and cinemas in its network.

Best Programming has gone to Abaton Kino in Hamburg [pictured] , managed by Matthias Elwardt, a three-screen cinema that welcomes more than 250,000 visitors per year. The cinema gives particular support to first films.

Best Young Audience Activities has gone to three venues in Scotland: Glasgow Film Theatre (Jaki McDougall); Dundee Contemporary Arts (Alice Black); and Filmhouse in Edinburgh (Rod White). The prize recognises their results and also their participation in the exhibitors cooperative, Young Audiences Cinema Network Scotland, supported by Creative Scotland.

Entrepreneur Of The Year has gone to Kinomuranow in Warsaw, managed by Roman Gutek, to recognise “the ongoing steadfastness with which he has launched new projects.” Those include the cinema, his distribution company Gutek Film, the festival New Horizons and the children’s label Maly Gutek.

The network includes 2891 screens in 64 countries.
