Arclight Films’ 3D shark-action commenced principal photography this week at the Village Roadshow Studios on the Gold Coast in Australia.

The action-thriller, which Arclight has sold in over twenty territories, follows a group of tsunami survivors trapped inside a flooded supermarket with a pack of man-eating sharks.

The film is the first Singapore/Australian co-production following a recently signed co-production pact between the two countries, and is being released in Australasia by Paramount Pictures.

The feature is also the first 3D film to be shot in Australia using Panavision’s new high resolution Red cameras with the Element Technica Quazar rig.

Arclight managing director Gary Hamilton is producing with Todd Fellman from Story Bridge Films and Ian Maycock from Blackmagic Design. Chris Brown from Pictures In Paradise and Arclight’s Mike Gabrawy are executive producing. The project received support from Screen Australia and Film Queensland.

Kimble Rendall and Russell Mulcahy direct and co-wrote the script.

Xavier Samuel, Julian McMahon, and Sharni Vinson star, with additional cast including Phoebe Tonkin, Dan Wylie, Lincoln Lewis, Alice Parkinson, Alex Russell, Martin Sacks, Cariba Heine, Damien Garvey, Adrian Pang and Yuwu Qi.

3D post production and visual effects will be handled by Blackmagic Design in Singapore working with VFX specialist Marc Varisco.
