Tokyo Broadcasting System Television (TBS) is debuting a slate at Hong Kong Filmart led by Drucker In The Dug-Out, the story of how a girl mistakenly uses business consultant Peter Drucker’s Management principles to shape up her high school baseball team.
Based on Natsumi Iwasaki’s bestseller Drucker In The Dug-Out: A Japanese Baseball Girl Meets Peter Drucker, the film is directed by Makoto Takada (The Vanished, Sing, Salmon, Sing!). Starring Atsuko Maeda from the theatre-based girl group AKB48, the film is due for release in Japan this June.
TBS also has Kochikame - The Movie: Save The Kachidoki Bridge! directed by Yasuhiro Kawamura (Nodame Cantabile: The Movie II). Based on a manga which was serialized for 35 years, the film is about a police corporal’s capers. It’s due out this summer.
Co-directed by Isshin Inudo (La Maison De Himiko) and Shinji Higuchi (Sinking Of Japan), The Floating Castle tells how an unlikely hero leads 500 people to defy Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s Unification Army of 20,000. The film dramatizes a real-life episode in 16th century history. The film is due out this autumn.
The TBS slate is rounded out by the first music band anime by Kyoto Animation, K-on! Movie. Based on a popular TV series, the film is about a high school girl band. The film is set for release in December.
