Japan’s T-Joy has clinched a string of deals on Karate Girl starring hot up-and-coming action star Takeda Rina.

Since its launch at Tokyo’s TIFFCOM market last month, the film has sold to J-Bics for Thailand, Viswas Films for India and Hwa Yea Multimedia for Malaysia and Brunei. The deals were closed on the basis of a two-minute promo of the film.

Directed by Yoshikatsu Kimura and produced by T-Joy subsidiary Amazon Laterna, the film is scheduled for completion at the end of this month for release in Japan in February 2011.

Takeda Rina previously starred in High-Kick Girl which was a hot seller for Japan’s Hexagon Pictures in 2008.

T-joy is also selling Hiroshima Angels!, billed as a Japanese version of Charlie’s Angels, to be directed by Ryuta Tasaki (Power Rangers) from April next year.

Part of the Toei group, T-Joy operates a circuit of digital cinemas in Japan. Its production subsidiary Laterna, launched in 2002, was renamed Amazon Laterna in April this year. T-Joy also has a joint investment and distributioni venture with Korea’s CJ Entertainment.
