‘Cleo – If I Could Turn Back Time’

The distributor struck the deal with Munich-based sales outfit Global Screen, which recently boarded the title to represent world rights.

Directed by Erik Schmitt, the film is a road-trip through Berlin which tells the story of young dreamer Cleo as she searches for a magic clock that can turn back time. Marleen Lohse stars in the lead role, Max Mauff and Andrea Sawatzki round out the cast.

The project is produced by Fabian Gasmia at Detailfilm, whose credits include Personal Shopper and the recent Sundance premiere The Sunlit Night, in co-production with ZDF / Das kleine Fernsehspiel and Chaussee Soundvision, Fink Film and Till Nowak.

It is supported by Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, BKM, Film und Medienstiftung NRW, FFA, Nordmedia, Wim Wenders Stiftung and DFFF.

Weltkino will release the film later this year after a summer festival run.

Gasmia previously collaborated with Weltkino on the release of Mia Hansen-Love’s 2016 Berlinale silver bear-winning Things To Come. “They have the right resources to raise awareness for this arthouse family entertainment title,” the producer commented on the deal for Cleo. “The film will appeal to adult audiences but will also be clearly understood by younger viewers,” he added.
