UPDATE: Universal’s Battleship has amassed $25m through UPI in its first three days in 26 territories, opening number one in 24.

The action film opened on $1.1m in Australia on Thursday (12) and raced off to a $7.4m Apr 11 opening day in South Korea, Belgium, France and Switzerland.

The action film took $2.8m in South Korea for the third biggest English-language opening day in history behind Transformers: Dark Of The Moon and Shrek The Third and the biggest launch for an English-language non-sequel.

Battleship (pictured) opened top in each of Hong Kong, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand.

There were previews in 11 territories and results were strong as the film delivered $1.5m in the UK and $870,000 in France. Battleship is set to open in the US on May 18.

Fox International will hope to capitalise on that company record $11.6m opening day in China this week as Titanic 3D sets sail in approximately 16 territories.

Highlights are expected to come from Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and Poland. As of Apr 9 the film stood at $41.5m.

Fox International’s Best Exotic Marigold Hotel has reached $53.3m and We Bought A Zoo stands at $31.9m.

Warner Bros Pictures International’s action hit Wrath Of The Titans stands at $170m and has reigned supreme for the past two weekends, however it may be outgunned by the big ships of Universal and Fox this weekend.

The Hunger Games has grossed more than $157.1m through Lionsgate licensses.

SPRI’s animation Pirates! Band Of Misfits stood at $25.2m through Apr 8, while action comedy 21 Jump Street stood at $27.6m and romance The Vow had reached $51.2m through SPRI and $55.3m through all distributors.

Disney’s John Carter has grossed $197.9m.
