‘Love Sarah’

Celia Imrie has signed to star in Love Sarah, a feel-good drama from first-time filmmaker Eliza Schroeder, written by Jake Brunger, an alumnus of the BBC’s 2017 New Talent Hotlist and BBC TV Drama Writers’ Programme.

The film is about a young woman who enlists the help of her mother’s best friend and her eccentric estranged grandmother to fulfil her late mother’s dream of opening a bakery in Notting Hill. It is now shooting in London.

Bill Paterson, Shannon Tarbet, Shelley Conn and Rupert Penry-Jones will co-star and Candice Brown, winner of UK baking show The Great British Bake Off in 2016, will make a guest appearance.

Cakes and pastries used in the film will be provided by Ottolenghi.

Love Sarah is a UK-German co-production between Rajita Shah of Miraj Films and Rainstar Productions, and Tonio Kellner and Jakob Zapf of Neopol Films.

UK sales outfit Film Seekers has international rights and will be introducing the film to buyers at the European Film Market in Berlin.

“Having lost my mother whilst developing the film, my perspective on the outcome and the story I wanted to tell changed. Creating a story that was uplifting and touching whilst dealing with loss in my life became very important to me,” said director Schroeder of the project.
