Thierry Wase-Bailey’s Celsius Entertainment has closed multiple pre-sales on its new Gillies MacKinnon drama, The Last Bus, starring Timothy Spall (Mr Turner) and Downton Abbey’s Phyllis Logan
The film, produced by by Sol Papadopoulos and Roy Boulter at Hurricane Films, has gone to Australia/NZ (Roadshow), Spain (DeA Planeta), UK and Ireland (Parkland Entertainment), Switzerland (Filmcoopi), Japan (L.D.H), Greece/Cyprus (Odeon), Airlines (Jaguar), Canada (MK2 Mile End) and Gravel Road (South Africa).
The Last Bus, which starts shooting this week, tells the story of widower Tom (Spall) who, on the recent passing of his wife Mary (Logan), uses his free bus pass to travel the length of Britain from John O’Groats in Scotland to Land’s End in Cornwall, their shared birthplace, using only local buses. His encounters with local people make him a media phenomenon, though Tom is totally unaware of his growing fame.
Directed by MacKinnon (Small Faces, Pure), The Last Bus is presented by Head Gear Films, Metrol Technology, Kreo Films, Quickfire and Creative Scotland, in co-production with Magnetic Productions, in association With Celsius Entertainment and LipSync Productions. Executive producers are Phil Hunt, Compton Ross, James Atherton, Jan Pace, Thierry Wase-Bailey, Henriette Wollmann, Jennifer Armitage, Norman Merry, Peter Hampden and Timothy Spall.
Spall and Logan previously appeared together in Mike Leigh’s Palme d’Or winner Secrets And Lies in 1996.
