The Sony Pictures co-chairman first joined Columbia Pictures in 1988.

Pascal jointly oversees all lines of business for the studio alongside co-chairman and CEO Michael Lynton.

So far this year, the studio’s slate of films has generated more than $2bn in worldwide box office revenues, roughly $1.3bn of that coming from international for the year-to-date.

Since 2000, Sony Pictures has opened 73 films at number one, which a press release from the studio claimed was more than any other studio in that timeframe.

Pascal joined Columbia Pictures in 1988, leaving the studio in 1994 to help build Turner Pictures as president of production. During her first years at Columbia she oversaw GroundhogDay, LittleWomen, Awakenings, and A League Of Their Own. She rejoined Columbia Pictures in 1996 as president of the studio under John Calley.

Earlier in her career, Pascal was vice-president of production at 20th Century Fox from 1986-87. Before joining Fox, Pascal began her career as a secretary working for BBC producer Tony Garnett at Kestral Films.
