Green Day – 21st  Century Breakdown has become the first film to be distributed to multiple European territories simultaneously via satellite.

Arts Alliance Media (AAM) transmitted the feature to over 50 sites in the UK and France last night. It is the first time cinemas have been able to receive a film in multiple countries simultaneously without the need for the transportation of a physical print.

The film was mastered by AAM’s in-house content services division, and then transferred electronically to Arqiva’s Chalfont Teleport, where it was uplinked to satellite and transmitted simultaneously to multiple cinema sites.

Recorded by MTV at the Olympia Halle in Munich, Germany, the film covers one night of the US band’s tour of their album 21st Century breakdown.
