The latest Twilight instalment surged past the half-billion milestone on Nov 29, its twelfth day in release.

Currently at $508m, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 stands at $285m internationally through Summit International licesees and $223m in North America through Summmit Entertainment.

In a statement Summit Entertainment co-chairmen Rob Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger, who according to a report on Bloomberg this week are back at the table for merger talks with Lionsgate, said: “We couldn’t be more pleased with the success of this film and a franchise that the fans have continued to support over the past several years.

“Thank you to all involved with the films from the actors, filmmakers and Stephenie Meyer to the most important group of all, the global fan base that continues to drive a desire for more Edward, Jacob and Bella.”

Breaking Dawn – Part 2 is scheduled to open on Nov 16, 2012.
