The UK Film Council (UKFC) is to promote independent British films in India through a series of showcases early next year.

From Blighty With Love, which will run between February 26 and March 11, was announced by Sarah McKenzie, UKFC senior executive for export development, at the ongoing Mumbai Film Festival.

The films will be screened simultaneously on multiple screens in 2K digital cinemas across Mumbai, Bangalore and Pune. The movie will be followed by a ‘virtual’ in-conversation event with key talent from each film via the Skype technology.

McKenzie said, “From Blighty with Love is an exciting example of the UKFC’s drive to open up UK film to international markets and audiences. It will showcase some of the best UK independent features of the last 18 months none of which have been seen on the big screen before in India.”

The titles include Stephen Elliot’s Easy Virtue, Julian Jarrold’s Brideshead Revisited, James Marsh’s Oscar-winning Man On Wire and Armando Iannucci’s In The Loop. Works by Michael Winterbottom, Sally Potter and Danny Boyle will also be included.

The project partners are UK Trade & Investment, the Mumbai Film Festival, Book My Show and Reliance Media Works, Big Cinemas and Fame Cinemas.
