Cohen Media Group has acquired US distribution rights and English language remake rights from Epithete Films to Gilles Legrand’s family drama YWBMS (Tu Sera Mon Filles) starring Niels Arestrup, Lorant Deutsch and Patrick Chesnais. 

Cohen has set a 2013 theatrical release after chairman and CEO Charles S Cohen brokered the deal with Gilles Legrand through the latter’s Epithete Productions. Cohen will produce a remake set in the California wine country to star US actors. 

YWBMY (pictured) takes place in the French region of Saint Emilion at the Chateau Clos Fourtet and centres on the troubled relationship between a vineyard owner and his son.

  • The Cinema Guild has picked up US rights to Viola, Matías Piñeiro’s take on Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night that premiered in the Wavelengths Section in Toronto last September. Viola will receive a limited theatrical rollout next year followed by a DVD and VoD. Ryan Krivoshey of The Cinema Guild negotiated the deal with Piñeiro.
  • Oscilloscope Laboratories has taken North American rights to Joke Fincioen’s and Biagio Messina’s documentary Dying To Do Letterman, which looks at the ambition of a dying comic to perform stand-up on The Late Show With David Letterman. Oscilloscope will make the documentary available on VoD and across all online platforms commencing Dec 4.
