Co-chairmen Nigel Sinclair (pictured) and Guy East announced the launch of Exclusive Releasing on Thursday (6) and have brought in Scott Pascucci as president and COO and Matt Brodlie as head of acquisitions.

The new venture plans to release between three to four wide and platform theatrical releases a year comprising films from the Exclusive Media pipeline and third party product.

Exclusive Releasing will also acquire films for accelerated-window and VoD release and develop and acquire alternative content such as concert films and music documentaries.

Screen first broke the story in Cannes that Exclusive was contemplating a move into domestic distribution and rumours continue to swirl that the company may yet acquire Millennium Entertainment.

Pascucci arrives from Warner Music Group division Rhino Entertainment where he served as president and worked recently on Exclusive’s documentary George Harrison: Living In The Material World.

Brodlie is a familiar face on the festival circuit and most recently ran Paramount’s worldwide acquisitions group, overseeing domestic and international acquisitions and local language productions. Prior to that he was svp of production and acquisitions for TriStar Pictures and before that served for more than 10 years at Miramax.

“The launch of Exclusive Releasing is the exciting and logical next step for Exclusive Media to be involved in all aspects of the filmmaking and distribution of our movies from development through production and into theatres,” East and Sinclair said. “We are thrilled that we have Scott and Matt joining us to put this division together.”

“Exclusive Releasing will bring the same commitment to excellence that Nigel, Guy and the entire Exclusive Media team have demonstrated throughout the company’s history,” Pascucci said. “Over the next few months, we will be assembling a core of great executives within a lean and efficient infrastructure focused on a short list of the best films and alternative content releases.”

“Our goal is to assemble a small but diverse slate of excellent films across our targeted release levels,” Brodlie said. “Exclusive is making fantastic films and there are also great projects available in the marketplace looking for new distribution options. We are excited for the upcoming festivals and markets, and we look forward to seeing all of the great filmmakers and producers that we have worked with over the years.”
