Outfest 2010: The 28th Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, has unveiled its line-up, with Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman’s Allen Ginsberg drama Howl opening the event on July 8 and J B Ghuman’s feature debut Spork closing it on July 18.

The line-up takes in 147 films (60 features and 87 shorts) from 23 countries. Other gala screenings including Cheryl Dunye’s thriller/documentary The Owls as the US Dramatic Centerpiece and Undertow (Contracorriente), the feature debut of Outfest Screenwriting Lab fellow Javier Fuentes-León, as the International Dramatic Centerpiece.

In its 4 in Focus series, the festival will celebrate first-time feature film directors by screening, in addition to Undertow, Myriam Aziza’s The Evening Dress (La Robe Du Soir), Adriana Maggs’ Grown Up Movie Star and Jake Yuzna’s Open.

Jane Lynch (Glee) will receive this year’s Outfest Achievement Award.
