EXCLUSIVE: Dan Stevens, Dominic Cooper, Emily Browning and Hattie Morahan star in UK drama about a love triangle in an artists’ colony.
Metrodome has picked up UK rights to Christopher Menaul’s feature drama Summer in February, starring Dan Stevens, Dominic Cooper, Emily Browning and recent Evening Standard Theatre Awards Best Actress Hattie Morahan.
Jonathan Smith adapted his own 1995 novel about scandal in an Edwardian artists’ colony in Cornwall.
Producers are Pippa Cross and Janette Day for Crossday Productions, with Jeremy Cowdrey for Apart Films and Dan Stevens for Marwood Pictures. Exec producers are Bruno Wu and Stephen Henderson.
The deal was negotiated by Speranza 13 Media’s Camela Galano and Metrodome’s head of acquisitions Joel Kennedy. Metrodome will release in 2013.
The story follows a young artist (Emily Browning) who becomes caught in a love triangle with a wildly talented painter, played by Cooper, and his gentlemanly friend, played by Stevens.
Metrodome Distribution’s theatrical slate for 2013 includes Maniac starring Elijah Wood, Everybody has a Plan with Viggo Mortensen, Baltasar Kormákur’s The Deep, doc The Gatekeepers and Stuart Murdoch’s God Help the Girl.
