NBC Universal is relaunching five channels in early 2010 led by its flagship entertainment platform Universal Channel.

The roster includes crime drama and suspense destination 13th STREET Universal; genre platform Syfy Universal; the women’s interest station Diva Universal; and feature platform Studio Universal.

Each channel name and logo has been redesigned and the strategy is to reach 130 countries and more than 150m households towards the end of 2010.

The first to launch will be Syfy Universal in France in January, followed by Studio Universal across Latin America in February. NBC Universal’s Global Networks division has been rebranded Universal Networks International.

“This investment and focus on our five core entertainment brands, along with top quality original content, will forge a powerful connection between our global presence and the needs of our local audiences,” Universal Networks International and digital initiatives president Roma Khanna said.
