NeoClassics Films has set June 18 for the US release of Christian Carion’s KGB defector drama Farewell.

The film stars Emir Kusturica and Guillaume Canet and will open the Rendez-Vous with French Cinema at Lincoln Center in New York on March 11.

Based on the book Bonjour Farewell by Serguei Kostine, Farewell recounts the true story of a disenchanted KGB colonel who gives top-secret documents to a French businessman working in Russia in an effort to end of the Cold War and create a better world for his son.

Alexandra Maria Lara, Ingeborda Dapkunaite, Diane Kruger, Willem Dafoe, Fred Ward and David Soul are among the ensemble cast.

The film received its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival and went on to screen in Toronto.
