UPDATED: The Jon Favreau crowd-pleaser will return to theatres on August 29 in a likely Golden Globes play after the initial early-summer run grossed $29.3m. Meanwhile, Open Road has pushed Nightcrawler back by two weeks.

Favreau plays a high-class chef who goes back to his roots and opens a food truck. The film premiered at SXSW and opened first on May 9 and garnered generally excellent reviews.

The cast includes Robert Downey Jr, Dustin Hoffman, Scarlett Johansson, John Leguizamo, Sofia Vergara, Bobby Cannavale and Oliver Platt.

  • Open Road Films has pushed back imminent Toronto world premiere Nightcrawler starring Jake Gyllenhaal to an October 31 nationwide release. Columbia Pictures opens Fury and Universal launches Dracula Untold on October 17.
  • Adopt Films will release Minneapolis-based Bats N Belfrey Productions’ African-American horror Matthew 18 theatrically on November 14. The feature directorial debut of Roy Belfrey stars Faizon Love, Luenell and newcomers Jennifer Jayleen Martinez and Don Benjamin.
