MGM Networks is launching a Portuguese-language version of its MGM HD Channel on SKY Brazil, offering a round-the-clock library of films in 1080i high definition.

MGM HD will serve as a complement to the standard definition MGM Channel that has operated in Brazil since December 1997.

The new service will draw on a catalogue of more than 4,100 titles that includes new releases and Brazilian premieres from the MGM library.

Brazil marks the fourth world market to launch a localised version of the MGM HD Channel, which debuted in Poland in December 2006. MGM rolled out the MGM HD Channel in the US in October 2007 followed by Israel in April this year.
