Benelux distributor also takes on Luc Besson’s The Lady starring Michelle Yeoh.

Benelux distributor Cineart has swooped to pre-buy Roman Polanski’s Gods Of Carnage. The company closed the deal with the French producer Said Ben Said of SBS.

The film, based on Yasmin Reza’s acclaimed play, starts shooting at the end of January. Starring Jodie Foster and Kate Winslet, it’s about two sets of parents, one of whose child has hurt the other at a public park. They meet to mull over the matter but, as the evening goes on, the parents begin to bicker among themselves.

Cineart has taken Benelux rights to Luc Besson’s The Lady, starring Michelle Yeoh as Aung San Suu Kyi. (Sales are handled by EuropaCorp.) The film has just finished shooting.

The Benelux distributor has also taken another EuropaCorp title,  La Source Des Femmes, the new film by Radu Mihaileanu.

These follow on from other Cineart acquisitions, among them Wong Kar-Wai’s The Grandmasters (sold by Wild Bunch) and David Cronenberg’s A Dangerous Method and Andrea Arnold’s Wuthering Heights, both sold by HanWay.
