He replaces Jorgen Ramskou who recently joined radio company 24/7.

Copenhagen Film Festivals has named Lars Hermann, of Danish regional film fund FilmFyn, the new CEO of the organisation replacing Jørgen Ramskou, who was earlier this month appointed chief of the new radio station, 24/7.

”Hermann has not only a great deal of experience from the film industry, but also in running a private-public institution such as the festivals,” said chairman of the board, Søren Jacobsen.

Starting his career with Danish shipping giant, Maersk-AP Møller, posted in New York and Houston, Hermann left a position as manager operations at Very Large Gas Carriers to enter the producers’ programme at the Danish National Film School.

After his graduation in 1995 he worked as managing director of Nordisk Film Post Production and International Co-Production, producing such films as Danish directors Morten Arnfred-Tom Hedegaard’s The Olsen Gang’s Last Trick (Olsen-bandens sidste stik) and Swedish director Jan Troell’s As White as in Snow (Så vit som en snö).

Also former head of development at the Danish Film Institute, Hermann – who will start in his new job on July 1 – has for the last three years been head of FilmFyn and invested in more than 25 productions, including Susanne Bier’s Oscar-winning In a Better World (Hævnen).

Currently unspooling its third CPH PIX, Copenhagen Film Festivals was established in 2008 following the merger of two festival organisations, now also organising the Buster children’s film showcase and and CPH DOX documentary film festival. Last year’s audiences for the three events exceeded 120,000.
