Imax Corporation is aiming to extend its reach throughout Europe and Africa with the appointment of a sales exec from Arts Alliance Media.

Giovanni Dolci will take up his new role as vice president of theatre development for Europe and Africa from Oct 15, reporting to Andrew Cripps, executive vice president and president of EMEA.

In his new role, Dolci will be responsible for growing and expanding the giant screen theatre network across the two continents.

He joins from London-based Arts Alliance Media, which specialises in digital cinema technology, after 10 years at the company.

He most recently served as director of sales and business development, responsible for negotiations with exhibitors and distributors throughout EMEA to support the market’s transition to digital projection technology.

Dolci previously worked as a film finance executive and executive producer with Beach Front Films, a New Zealand-based film production company, where he oversaw financing international co-production projects.

Cripps said he hoped Dolci would “help us seize growth opportunities across major markets in the region”.
