Berlin-based sales company m-appeal has added Polish filmmaker Marcin Wrona’s second feature film The Christening to its lineup ahead of its international premiere in Toronto’s Vanguard sidebar next week.

The crime drama about two men who not only share a common past, but also a dark secret was produced by Odeon Film Studio in co-production with the Andrzej Wajda Master School of Directing and the Polish Film Institute.

In May, The Christening premiered at the Gdynia Polish Film Festival where it won a Silver Lion for Best Film, while the best actor award went ex aequo to the film’s two young leads Wojciech Zielinski and Tomasz Schuchardt.

Meanwhile, another new Polish feature film - Ewa Pytka’s fiction debut Silence Is Golden - has been picked up for international distribution by Cologne-based sales agent Media Luna New Films.

The magical comedy with Aneta Todorczuk-Perchuć and Jan Wieczorkowski premiered in Gdynia’s Panorama Of Polish Cinema in May.

In addition, Media Luna will now be handling sales on a new German film, Ayse Polat’s Luks Glück, produced by Hamburg-based intervista Digital Media.

The romantic comedy focuses on the young Luk who wants to use lottery prize winnings to become a successful music producer, but his parents have other ideas of how to use the money – to return to Turkey with the windfall and open a hotel.
