Former film consultant with the Danish Film Institute, Vinca Wiedemann, hans joined Lars von Trier and Peter Aalbæk Jensen’s production outfit, Zentropa Entertainments.

She will work as producer and ”sparring partner to the company’s writers, directors and producers in developing and producing features, novella films and TV projects.”

Originally a film editor, Wiedemann was a feature film consultant at the institute between 1999-2003, then became artistic director of the support scheme, New Danish Screen until 2007.

As a freelancer she has been artistic producer on Susanne Bier’s In a Better World (Hævnen), which will screen in Toronto, and Pernille Fischer Christensen’s A Family (En familie), which will open in February 2011. She has also been script consultant on Lars von Trier’s Melancholia.

”Having spent the last six months trimming our financial situation, we will now focus on film art. During 15 years Wiedemann has shown how important it is for producers to have an artistic sparring partner. So we have great expectations that she will be able to strengthen us artistically,” explained managing director Peter Aalbæk Jensen.

Wiedemann will also join the Zentropa’s management group of the company, which is 50% owned by Danish major Nordisk Film.
