The Zurich Film Festival will give its Golden Eye Award this year to director Milos Forman.

ZFF directors Karl Spoerri and Nadja Schildknecht announced the news, and also revealed plans for a Forman retrospective.

Forman’s films include One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Amadeus, and The People vs Larry Flynt.

The 78-year-old Czech-American director, screenwriter, actor and educator will be on hand in Zurich to receive the award on Oct 2.

He will also present a workship in Zurich’s masterclass series, which will have 25 participants.

Zurich’s previous Golden Eye honourees include Roman Polanski, Constantin Costa-Gavras, Oliver Stone and Stephen Frears.

The sixth Zurich Film Festival runs Sept 23 to Oct 3.
