‘Looking For Lennon’

UK-based finance, production and sales outfit Evolutionary Films has closed a slew of deals on two of the titles on its slate.

Music documentary Looking For Lennon has sold to North America (SP Releasing), China (Lemon Tree), Italy (Koch Media), Brazil (Globosat), Spain (Vertice) and Poland (Against Gravity). Garry Popper is producing the film which is being directed by Roger Appleton.

The company has also inked deals on its in-house-produced action film Vengeance to Japan (Open Sesame), Middle East (Phoenicia Pictures), China (Lemon Tree) and New Zealand (Sky).

Directed by Ross Boyask, the film stars Stu Bennett and Keith Allen in the story of an ex-soldier turned mercenary who unearths a sinister conspiracy when searching for answers to the death of his best friend.

At this week’s EFM in Berlin, Evolutionary is launching international sales on two new projects. Family animation MiBots hails from Wise Blue Studios and producers Nathalie Martinez and former Disney executive Jamie Thomason. Sci-fi adventure Persephone from writer-director Jeffrey Morris will shoot this summer and is being co-produced by VFX outfit Pixomondo (Game Of Thrones).

The company is also looking to ramp up its UK distribution activities one year after it launched its releasing arm. Looking For Lennon and Vengeance will be released in April and May, respectively, as the company aims to release a film every week in the UK through the end of the year.

Evolutionary’s slate includes documentary Written By Mrs Bach: Broken Silence and Australian horror Out Of The Shadows.
