EXCLUSIVE: FilmNation has landed a major new title for the AFM and will commence sales on the company’s first Woody Allen collaboration Magic In The Moonlight.

Eileen Atkins, Colin Firth, Marcia Gay Harden, Hamish Linklater, Simon McBurney, Emma Stone and Jacki Weaver star in the story, which takes place in the South of France.

Allen’s longtime associates Letty Aronson and Stephen Tenenbaum are producing the Gravier Productions film, which is currently in post-production.

“What an honour it is to collaborate for the first time with a true New York filmmaker like Woody Allen,” said FilmNation CEO Glen Basner. “Working with him and his longtime team will be nothing short of a rich experience for all of us at FilmNation.”

Allen’s current hit Blue Jasmine starring Oscar favourite Cate Blanchett is still in release in the US through Sony Pictures Classics and has grossed more than $31m.

Speaking to ScreenDaily this week, Sony Pictures Classics co-head Michael Barker said it was too early to say whether the company would acquire rights.
