Screen can reveal the first trailer for Anthony Chen’s Wet Season, which will have its world premiere on Sunday September 8 in the Platform section at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF, September 5-15).

Chen’s second feature is about a Chinese teacher in Singapore who is struggling with marriage and school life, when she starts a friendship with a student with absentee parents.

The film sees Chen reunite with his cast from his first feature Ilo Ilo, which won the Camera d’Or at Cannes in 2013.

Wet Season is produced by Chen’s Giraffe Pictures in association with Singapore-based streaming platform HOOQ plus China’s Rediance and New Century Influence.

Producers are Chen, Huang Wenhong and Tan Si En for Giraffe.

Memento Films International is handling worldwide sales and festival screenings on the film, with Rediance handling mainland China and Taiwan rights and the US co-represented by UTA and Memento.
