EXCLUSIVE: HanWay Select to sell Cannes-bound doc from Tyson director.

HanWay Select is handling sales on James Toback’s Cannes-bound documentary Seduced and Abandoned, which follows the efforts of the Tyson director and actor Alec Baldwin to gather finance for a potential film at last year’s Cannes market.

“It’s a unique look behind the curtain at the world’s biggest and most glamorous film festival, shining a light on the bitter-sweet relationship filmmakers entertain with Cannes and the film business,” HanWay Select director of sales and distribution Fabien Westerhoff told ScreenDaily.

“It’s a troublesome and often hilarious journey.”

The intriguing documentary features interviews with directors including Martin Scorsese and Roman Polanski as well as a roster of billionaires talking about the economic landscape in Hollywood. Producers are 30 Rock star Baldwin and regular collaborator Michael Mailer.

Resolution handles US.

The addition means HanWay has four titles in Cannes strands with HanWay handling Competition entry Only Lovers Left Alive and label Select selling Seduced and Abandoned, Mark Cousins’ A Story of Children and Film and Bernardo Bertolucci’s The Last Emperor 3D.

Toback’s acclaimed documentary Tyson, about the life of boxing heavyweight Mike Tyson, was nominated for an Oscar in 2008. He also wrote Barry Levinson’s 1991 crime drama Bugsy.
