The experienced British executive has resurfaced after most recently serving as president of National Geographic Films.

Reporting to Charles Cohen, Battsek will work alongside the chairman and CEO to ramp up the production and distribution slate in 2013.

He will play an integral role in overseeing acquisition, production and distribution of Cohen Media Group titles and the Cohen Film Collection of landmark films, previously known as The Rohauer Library. Prior to National Geographic Battsek led Miramax Films.

The production slate includes Double CrossOperation Mincemeat and a remake of the French film You Will Be My Son.  

The company’s 2013 releases include Fernando Trueba’s The Artist And The Model, Pablo Berger’s Blancanieves, Francois Ozon’s In The House, Rachid Bouchareb’s first US film Just Like A Woman and the restored 1924 classic The Thief Of Bagdad.
