Les arcs

The team behind the Les Arcs European Film Festival, held in the French Alps every December has confirmed it has put its sister summer event, the Paris Co-production Village, on ice.

The popular event was launched in 2014 out of the ashes of the Paris Project, which in turn was created out of the now-defunct Paris Cinema Film Festival. Its aim was to connect international projects with French partners.

Les Arcs head of industry Jérémy Zelnik said the co-production meeting, which took place in central Paris in June, had been shelved this year after its main sponsor the Champs-Elysées Film Festival pulled out.

“This has no impact on Les Arcs and we’re reflecting on other potential formats for the event with other partners for next year,” said Zelnik.

The Les Arcs team has announced it is planning a number of special events for the upcoming edition (Dec 15-22) to mark the 10th edition. This year’s country of honour will be Poland, in partnership with the Polish Film Institute.

The festival’s respected Les Arcs Industry Village – which includes a co-production market and work-in-progress showcase – has supported seven films in Cannes including Girl, In My Room, Diamantino, Chris The Swiss, Our Struggles, The Load and Cassandro the Exotic!
