‘Voyagers’ EFM presentation (L-R): Producer Basil Iwanyk, writer-director Neil Burger, AGC chairman and CEO Stuart Ford

Lionsgate has acquired US rights to AGC Studios and Thunder Road’s sci-fi Voyagers starring Tye Sheridan as Neil Burger commences production this week in Romania.

Described as being in the vein of The Lord Of The Flies, Voyagers takes place in the near future, as an odyssey of 30 young men and women on a multi-generational deep space mission in search of a new home descends into madness.

Starring alongside Sherdian are Lily-Rose Depp, Fionn Whitehead, Chanté Adams, and Colin Farrell, alongside new cast additions Viveik Kalra, Quintessa Swindell, Archie Madekwe, and Archie Renaux.

Burger directed The Upside, Divergent, Limitless, and The Illusionist and directs Voyagers from his own original screenplay. Basil Iwanyk serves as producer alongside Thunder Road’s Brendon Boyea, and Burger, while AGC Studios chief Stuart Ford head of film Greg Shapiro are executive producers with Fibonacci’s Greg Clark and Victoria Hill.

AGC is fully financing the feature in partnership with AGC investors Fibonacci Films, Ingenious Media, and Aperture Media.

As Screen revealed exclusively in February, AGC International struck multiple international sales at the EFM in Berlin, including Germany (Telepool), Spain (Sun), Benelux (The Searchers), and Latin America (Sun).
