The former co-president of eOne Films Canada and evp at Alliance Films is joining upstart Canadian distributor Elevation Pictures as co-president alongside Laurie May.

Segal will help to oversee distribution, sales, acquisitions and operations at the Toronto-based company, backed by Teddy Schwarzman’s Black Bear Pictures.

Since its launch in 2013 during the Toronto International Film Festival, Elevation has developed an inaugural slate that includes The Imitation Game starring Benedict Cumberbatch, JC Chandor drama A Most Violent Year and Alejandro Amenabar’s Canadian co-production Regression.

Elevation’s slate include the Tom Hardy starrer Locke, Jake Gyllenhaal thriller Nightcrawler, John Hillcoat’s Triple Nine and American Ultra to star Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart.

“There is a tremendous opportunity in the Canadian distribution market and I look forward to working with filmmakers and being part of building this company into a successful and dynamic part of the distribution community,” said Segal.

May added, “Noah is a great addition to our growing team at Elevation. He brings valuable skills, relationships and experience. We worked together at Lionsgate, then Alliance and eOne, and we look forward to making Elevation another vibrant player in the distribution landscape.”
