‘15 Years’

Berlin-based Picture Tree International (PTI) has boarded international sales for German director Chris Kraus’ 15 Years, a sequel to the writer and director’s 2006 feature Four Minutes.

15 Years sees Hannah Herzsprung, who went on to star in The Reader and Who Am I, reprising her lead role as the piano wunderkind Jenny von Loeben. It also stars Albrecht Schuch, best known for All Quiet on the Western Front, System Crasher.

Four Minutes launched the acting career of Herzsprung in 2006 and won the best film prize at the Shanghai International Film Festival, and was nominated for a European Film Award and Golden Globe. It sold to more than 40 territories.

Currently in postproduction, PTI will present a first promo of 15 Years at Cannes’ Marché du Film. Wild Bunch are set to release the film in Germany.

The film picks up with Jenny after her release from prison for a 15-year sentence for a murder she didn’t commit. When she meets Syrian war refugee Omar who has a talent for singing, she agrees to play the piano for him on a TV music talent competition. However, by appearing on the show, Jenny also has to face the man who actually committed the crime for which she was convicted – who has become a pop star and judge of the music talent competition.

15 Years is a Dor Film West, Four Minutes Film production in co-production with Dor Film, Samsa Film and Senator Film with Danny Krausz and Chris Kraus as delegate producers.

The cast also includes Hassan Akkouch, Christian Friedel and Adele Neuhauser.

PTI’s Marché du Film slate also includes Manta Manta: Legacy by Til Schweiger, Weekend Rebels by Marc Rothemund, A Whole Life by Hans Steinbichler, Measures Of Men by Lars Kraume and The Chapel by Dominique Deruddere.
